This year’s Francophonie festival in Ukraine will take place on March 15-22. One of the festival’s highlights is going to be a night of short movies in French, which will include a debut of African cinematography in Kyiv on March 19-20.

Irish Film Festival starting on Saint Patrick’s Day on March 17, 2011, will screen prize-winning Irish movies of different genres in six cities of Ukraine: Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Sevastopol. The Oscar-nominated cartoon “The Secret of Kells,” unfolding a beautiful and multifaceted world of Celtic mythology for the viewers, will open the festival.

The international film festival will take place on March 25-27 in Kyiv. The festival will feature works by young directors both from European and non-European countries. The films on the program have been previously highly regarded by a number of international film festivals and received numerous awards.

During four days in April the devoted filmgoers will have an opportunity to watch a number of films featuring famous French actor of Moroccan descent Roschdy Zem in Kyiv.

Festival screening of the best films representing the new Polish cinema is held in several Ukrainian cities on April 8-14, 2011.

The films by Hungarian directors produced over the last five years will be screened at Kyiv cinema starting May 12. All the films presented at the festival have been previously subjected to various film awards, both Hungarian and international.

The third Kyiv International Film Festival will take place on June 2-8, 2011 in the capital of Ukraine.

Ukrainian cinema world kicks off summer with a special project Cinema: Women Style which is held in Ukraine for the third time. This is an exciting panorama of female characters, lives and views as pictured in the latest world female cinema hits. Women are not only featured on screen but also behind the scenes - directors of three out of five films are females from France (Jeanne Labrune and Catherine Corsini) and Argentina (Natalia Smirnoff).

On June 3-4 the National Opera of Ukraine will host a rare show – a ballet in two acts, which combines world renowned ballet dancers in a classical divertissement in the first act and modern choreography in the second.

The 3rd annual festival of international environmental films EkoChashka finishes its spring tour in Ukraine during its final stage held in Kyiv between 3rd and 5th June, 2011. Having travelled the cities of Ukraine since May 24, 2011 EkoChashka brings ecocinema to Kyiv.

The 7th Festival of the Portuguese Cinema will start in Kyiv tomorrow. Featured movies include a crime thriller about corruption Call Girl (2007), a comic take on crime Tudo isso é Fado (2004), a drama about a love triangle O Delfim (2002), and a nostalgic romantic comedy O Leão da Estrela (1947).
