On January 24, 2014, the downtown Kyiv cinema Kinopanorama will feature French Cinema night. The event will include the screening of four French films dubbed in Ukrainian.

Tango virtuosos Max Van De Voorde and Solange Acosta of Argentina will create a unique, primordial atmosphere of genuine Argentina tango in the House of Officers of Ukraine. The performance, held on March 9, 2014 will feature unique dance show program alongside with the tunes of European Solo Tango Orchestra.

One of the largest international art and literature fests – the fifth annual Arsenal Book Festival will feature a course of lectures CinemaUtopia: From the History of Soviet Cinema. The course will include the screening of Sumka Dypkuryera (1927) – black-and-white silent movie, directed by Ukraine’s reputed Oleksandr Dovzhenko. The event will take place on April 10-12 and 18-20, 2014.

Extremely popular since the first French Spring festival in Ukraine (2004), the annual Long Nights of Short Meter will come back to Kyiv on April 11-12, 2014. The concept is steadily gaining momentum: 6-7 hours to enjoy a selection of the best French short films during the night time. Notably, all of the movies to be screened are fresh out of the cinematography oven.

The 86 film festival will proudly present the Sundance Film Festival audience favorite - Pandora’s Promise (USA, 2013) in Kyiv. The 87 minutes-long documentary will be introduced by the Director, Academy Award nominee Robert Stone. The introduction will be followed by a Q&A session. The admission to the screening is free of charge.

The famous Berlin Philharmonic will host the concert by INSO-Lviv, the Academic Youth Symphony Orchestra from western Ukraine. The orchestra will perform music pieces by famous Ukrainian and Azeri composers.

This year Ukraine will be heavily represented at the Cannes International Film Festival: Myroslav Slaboshpitskiy’s Tribe, Serhiy Loznitsa’s Maidan, restored The Color of Pomegranates by Serhiy Parajanov, as well as five short films will be screened at the festival. Parajanov’s work will compete in the official selection of the festival. The 2014 festival is taking place on May 14 to 25.

The iconic Globe Theatre, associated with William Shakespeare, will perform in Kyiv on May 24, 2014. The open air performance of Hamlet will be part of the world tour of the theatre company.

Kyiv Lords of the Sound orchestra will perform in Lviv with their Cinema Hits concert program. According to the organizers, the concert will offer music pieces featured in The Lord of the Rings, The Lone Ranger, The Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes, Amelie, Harry Potter, The Mask, Kill Bill, James Bond, Star Wars, as well in a Polish film Fire and Sword.

The 2014 Odesa International Film Festival (OIFF) will unfold in the Ukrainian gem city on the Black Sea on July 11 and will mesmerize the international cinema lovers until July 19. This year’s festival will open with Human Capital by Paolo Virzi (Italy, France, 2013, 110 min) and close with Paper Souls by Vincent Lannoo (France, Belgium, Luxembourg, 2013, 100 min). International competition program will feature films from the U.S., China, Georgia, Ukraine, Poland, Mexico, France, Romania, Hungary, etc.

On July 27, 2014, Ukrainian pop-singer Ruslana, the Ambassador of Malaysia, the Ambassador of Netherlands, expatriates, who live in Ukraine, their families and Ukrainians will join the International Solidarity Flag March Against Terrorism in Kyiv. The event will start at 11:30 am at the Embassy of Netherlands and will pass through Podil and Evropeyska ploshcha.
