Igor Bobrin Ice Theater to Perform in Kyiv

The European Champion of 1981, Soviet competitive figure skater Igor Bobrin brings his famous ice theater on tour to Ukraine. A team of professional figure skaters will perform some of the best holiday stories – Cinderella, The Snow Queen, and Swan Lake on Kyiv stage during the holiday season.

At 7 a.m. on January 6, 2012, a religious service will kick-start the Christmas celebrations in the east Ukrainian city of Donets’k. Another Christian service will start at 4 p.m. for local Orthodox Christians.

Kyiv Celebrates Orthodox Christmas

Kyiv City State Administration organizes a celebration of the Ukrainian national holiday – Orthodox Christmas – in the main street of the capital – Khreshchatyk. The celebrations will include traditional Christmas vertep (a puppet theater that recreates the Biblical scene of the birth of Jesus Christ), carolling, holiday souvenirs fair, contests, games, etc. Organizers promise to bring Christmas cheer to everyone in attendance.

Christmas Carol Celebration to Begin in Cherkasy

Festival Rizdvyana Kolyada (Christmas Carol) will take place on January 15, 2012. Various folk teams from several regions of Ukraine will perform traditional Ukrainian Christmas carols – kolyadky, shchedrivky, vinshuvannya, and other kinds of themed festive songs. After vocal performances at the Cherkasy drama theater the celebration will move in the street, where bonfire and gingerbread treats will welcome the attendees of Rizdvyana Kolyada.

Classics of World Cinematography to Be Screened Using Celluloid Film

The audience will be able to enjoy the classic feel of movie theaters before the DVD era at a festival of retro masterpieces at the Chapayev Cinema in Kyiv through January and February 2012. World cinematography masterpieces will be screened using celluloid film at Chapayev Cinema starting January 16 to February 20, 2012.

Kyiv to Host Modern Serbian Cinematograph

One of Kyiv’s oldest cinemas, bearing the name of Ukrainian capital, is to welcome yet another film festival. This time Kyivers will be offered to view Serbian cinematography, represented by five films that received multiple national and international awards in 2009-2010.
