December 1, 2012: Lviv Symphony Orchestra Plays Lord of the Rings Music
Symphony orchestra Cantabile Orchestra, under the direction of Diana Koval, and the folk choir of the Tarasa Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Dnipro, directed by Iryna Dusheiko, will perform the music from the hit Hollywood production – The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001 – 2003). Music by Howard Shore will be performed under direction of Nazar Kulyniak.
December 4, 2012: Taste of Georgia in Kyiv
Georgian Erisioni esemble will give a single concert in Kyiv. To get to know the true Georgian culture one has to hear their songs and see their dances, which is where the legendary Erisioni ensemble comes in, reports Ukrainian media.
December 6, 2012: Thousand Foot Krutch Debut in Ukraine
Canadian rockers Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK) will perform in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv for the first time. Since their formation in 1998, Ontario-bred players released seven studio albums – That What People Do, Set It Off, Phenomenon, The Art of Breaking, The Flame In All Of Us, Welcome To The Masquerade, The End Is Where We Begin and one live album – Live at the Masquerade.
December 7, 2012: LMFAO in Ukraine
Crazy American LMFAO band invites their Kyiv fans for the Party Rock People-style concert: dancing robot, DJs, and dancers will set Kyiv’s night on fire. This will be the first time for the popular electro and hip-hop Los Angeles duo to visit Ukraine.
December 7–16, 2012: 100 Jazz Musicians Come to Lviv for Jazz Bez
The XII International Jazz Festival Jazz Bez stands out from the variety of jazz festivals in the country and abroad due to the notable diversity of musical styles presented at the event. Bebop, cool, free jazz, funk, fusion, jazz rock, and swing are only a few from the long list of musical styles normally featured at Jazz Bez.
December 8, 2012: Give Back Some Emotions!
Social project Want to Live! To Have Friends! To Rejoice! invites Kyiv residents and guests to join the charity event Kaleidoscope of Emotions aimed to help out the orphans. The motto of the charitable event is “The real philanthropist is not the one who intends to pay but the one who intends to do good.”
December 8–9, 2012: Lviv Hosts Gymnastics Tournament
Western Ukrainian city of Lviv will host Gymnastics Open on December 8-9, 2012. The rhythmic gymnastics competition has a dreamy title Winter Fairytale to mark the beginning of the holiday season. Top 200 gymnasts from five countries – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine – will arrive for the championship.
December 9, 2012: Kaas Sings Piaf in Kyiv
French pop, blues and chanson vocalist Patricia Kaas still has got what it takes even after playing numerous concerts and selling millions of records. Kaas will perform on the stage of the Kyiv National Opera Theatre on December 9, 2012.
December 9, 2012: Brazzaville Brings Jetlag Poetry to Ukraine
American indie pop band Brazzaville will celebrate their 15th anniversary with a concert in Kyiv on December 9th, 2012. The show titled Welcome to Brazzaville II will start at 9 p.m. Tickets for the show in Kyiv cost UAH 100-300.
December 11, 2012, – February 17, 2013: Celebrations of the Upcoming Holiday Season Start in Lviv
Elevated mood will visit the residents and guests of the western Ukrainian city of Lviv as early as December 11th, 2012. On that day the city fair will help the Lvivians in picking out holiday presents for their loved ones and buying festive decorations for their homes. The fair will take place on the city main square – Ploshcha Rynok. The visitors of the fair will have an opportunity to enjoy local cuisine, concerts and competitions.
December 12, 2012: Toto Cutugno Sings in Ukraine
Italian music legend Toto Cutugno will perform in Ukraine on December 12, 2012. The singer invited a special guest – known Italian tenor Alessandro Safina. The symphony orchestra directed by Alterisio Paoletti will accompany the show. Besides his most popular songs, Cutugno will perform the pieces, created for and sung by such stars as Adriano Celentano, Dalida, Joe Dassin, Mireille Mathieu, and Ray Charles.
December 14–15, 2012: Brace Yourself for Ultramarine
Ultramarine international quartet will give two concerts in Ukraine as a part of the Jazz Bez 2012 jazz festival (December 1-16, 2012). Uliana Horbachevska (vocals), Petras Vysniauskas (soprano saxophone), Mark Tokar (double bass, vocals), and Klaus Kugel (drums, percussion) came together to mix “improvisation, Ukrainian traditional music, profundity, jazz, archaic singing, healing force, rugged beauty, new dimensions” and many more, reads their website.
