ChernihivPhotoFest to Open in Chernihiv
The second annual festival of photography ChernihivPhotoFest will feature 15 exhibits by artists from Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, Sweden, the UK, the USA, and Ukraine. The projects are united by the theme “School”. The exposition of ChernihivPhotoFest will be divided in several divisions: School, Survival School, School of Excellence, and Competing View.
The photographers to be featured at the festival will include Loli Kantor (USA), Lewis Carroll (UK), Jens Olof Lasthein and Chris Maluzynski (Sweden), Vitas Luckus (Lithuania), Irina Popova (Russia), and Oleksandr Gliadelov (Ukraine).
And – yes, you read it right Lewis Carroll will represent the UK at ChernihivPhotoFest-2011, and he’s not a namesake. The exhibition “Through the Looking Glass – 150 Later” will feature works by the British master Lewis Carroll himself (from the archives of the National Portrait Gallery in London) as well as the themed photo pieces by the Russian artist Alexey Alexeev.
Eight exhibition halls will host the festival in 2011 – local cafes, museums, art clubs, and even municipal buildings will make room for workshops, lectures, presentations, round table discussions, film demonstrations etc.
