Kyiv Greets Easter With Themed Basket Festival
The second charitable fair Easter Basket will celebrate the art of Easter baskets decoration. The event will feature workshops on flower embellishment of the baskets, Easter eggs painting, as well as stained-glass window painting. The fair will also offer Easter presents, cakes, and other holiday food prepared by the cooks at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Flower decorations made specifically for the holiday will adorn the square nearby Lavra. A flower couturier LoraShen will provide the church with a 2.5 meter high ethno-styled flower Easter egg. More than 7,500 red and yellow roses will be used to create the installation. Green flowers and leaves will be also used in the composition. The red color in the flower Easter eggs will symbolize the grief over the death of Jesus Christ, while red and yellow will stand for joy and life.
Funds raised during the Easter Basket will be forwarded to pay for the treatment of two sick teenagers.
