Soviet Tanks to Parade in Kyiv

The T-34s and Panther tanks will become the main attractions at the International Reenactment Festival Na Brone Pobedy (literal translation – On the Armor of Victory). The event will unfold in the Ukrainian capital on February 26, 2012.

World War II weaponry will be on display at the festival. The exhibition will also feature postwar weapons made by the Soviets and Germans. The reenactment of war trainings using restored weapons will begin at 10 a.m. The organizers also plan to stage reenactment of a typical World War II battle Encounter. It will unfold at 1 p.m.

Na Brone Pobedy will feature motorcycles M-72 and BMW, automobiles Willys MB, Opel Blitz, VW KDF 82, and Kuebelwagen, armored vehicle Sdkfz, tanks T-34-85, a copy of a German tank T-V Panther, antiaircraft cannons, etc.

Kyiv was one of the European cities occupied by Nazi Germany during WWII. The estimated 600,000 soldiers died or were captured during the battle for Kyiv in 1941.
