Uzhhorod Glühwein 2012 to Celebrate Christmas in Western Ukraine
Western Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod will celebrate the upcoming Orthodox Christmas with a mulled wine festivity. The festival Uzhhorod Glühwein 2012 will open in the city for the first time.
Christmas vertep installments, carol singing and tasting of the mulled wine produced by the best local wine makers will become a part of the program of the event. Uzhhorod Glühwein 2012 is aimed at promoting the classic Ukrainian tradition of celebrating Christmas with puppet theater performances – vertep, as well as the still widely popular carol singing – kolyaduvannya. The singers, customarily dressed up in themed costumes, carry a Christmas star and are given various treats for their performances.
When: January 8, 2012, 1 p.m.
Where: Rákóczi Wine Cellar, Poshtova Square, Uzhhorod
