Kyiv Reveals Its 11 Unique Places

Kyiv’s administration presents a new flyer and a Z-card in English for the tourists coming to Ukraine for the Euro 2012 football championship. The card will feature the 11 pearls of Kyiv worth seeing while in Ukraine’s capital.

International Sculpture Festival to Unfold in Kyiv

This summer the International Modern Sculpture Festival will take place in Ukraine for the first time. Kyiv’s largest botanical garden will host the Festival between June 2 and July 2, 2012. The famous Yorkshire Sculpture Park will support the event in Ukraine. The Festival will showcase accomplishments of modern Ukrainian sculptors as well as the best examples of international modern sculpture.

Jaume Plensa’s House of Knowledge Will Decorate Kyiv’s Botanical Garden

Kyiv will become a new temporary home to the 6-tonn 8-meter sculpture by renowned Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa. The USD 2 million House of Knowledge sculpture resembles a figure of a man, made of metal letters.

Switch on Ukraine in One Day

Kyiv’s Pyrohovo open air museum of folk architecture will host a historical and cultural festival from June 10 until July 2. Switch on Ukraine in One Day festival will promote Ukrainian culture and demonstrate the folk art, representing different regions of the country.

Mutts Strut Their Stuff in Kyiv

The Friendship Knows No Breed dog show will take place in Kyiv on June 16th. The annual event will promote responsibility among dog owners, as they are encouraged to take good care of their pets and make sure the dogs are healthy and happy. Famous animal rights promoter German Princess Maja von Hohenzollern will be in attendance at Friendship Knows No Breed.

Volodymyr Sai’s Shocking Exhibition at Arsenale

Volodymyr Sai is a prominent representative of the contemporary Ukrainian art scene. Sai’s art can be considered provocative, though he is not inclined to dramatize in order to attract public attention. On the contrary, the artist is rather introverted, and chooses to depict elderly people rather than beautiful youthful bodies.
