Pinchuk Art Center Launches Anish Kapoor’s Solo Exhibition

The Solo Exhibition of the British sculptor of Indian descent Anish Kapoor will be opened at PinchukArtCenter in Kyiv on May 7, 2012. The works by the famous sculptor have already been showcased at the international center for contemporary art; however, this will be Kapoor’s first solo display in Kyiv.

Vyshyvankas to Blossom in Ternopil

Vyshyvanka is a piece of traditional Ukrainian clothing. It is a richly embroidered shirt, usually made of linen. Normally vyshyvankas feature region-specific patterns. This particular type of shirt traces its roots back to the pre-Christian period. “Vyshyvanka is a national shrine. It symbolizes the connection between the generations. The shirt is passed from family to family and stored as a priceless treasure,” said one of the organizers of the fifth pan-Ukrainian festival of vyshyvankas and national costume Tsvit Vyshyvanky Yuriy Zhelikhovskyi.

One of Ukraine’s most celebrated and the most expensive representatives of contemporary art in Ukraine Anoliy Kryvolap will present his works at one of Kyiv’s museums. Notably, Kryvolap’s painting set a new record at the Phillips de Pury & Co auction that took place in London on October 13, 2011.
