Cambridge Hears a Lecture on Ukrainian Shevchenko

Reputed scholar of Harvard University George Grabowicz will visit the University of Cambridge to deliver a lecture on Contemporary Ukrainian Studies. The lecture program will be held under the topic Taras Shevchenko: The Making of the National Poet and is aimed at highlighting the most eminent as well the least overt periods of Shevchenko’s life, artistic growth and influence on the development of Ukrainian language. Additionally, the lecture will deepen and broaden the understanding of Ukraine’s culture using innovative methods and approaches. The event will be held on February 28, 2014.

The European Taekwondo Union announced that Ukraine will host the 2014 European Taekwondo Championships. The tournament will take place in May 2014. The Ukrainian Federation of Taekwondo (UFT) is responsible for the organization of the event.

Kyiv Fashion Park Project Signed into Implementation

The Head of Kyiv City State Administration Volodymyr Bondarenko supported the 2014 initiative of the Kyiv Fashion Park, LLC. The executive order signed on May 5 by Bondarenko aims at attracting public attention to national culture and developing modern art in Ukraine. Notably, the mastermind of the project – Kyiv Fashion Park – will be fully responsible for the technical and financial support of the ambitious city-wide recreational project.

Lviv Holds Cycling Race for Clean Future

Lviv residents will hold a bicycle race to promote healthy lifestyle. The event is organized by Ecological Resistance and ZSUV youth initiative. The organizers of the race aim at reminding the community of the environment’s vulnerability and the effect of people’s everyday activity has on it. Cars running on gas or diesel as well as air travel have catastrophic effect on the environment. That is way Lviv activists suggest the local youth to switch to ‘green’ alternative of local transportation – bicycles.

Ukrainian Youth Unites to Help Stray Dogs

One saying goes, “Whoever said you can’t buy happiness forgot little puppies”. This meeting is to make you happier and for you to share your love with human’s best friends, reads the press release distributed by the Kyiv Alumni Resource Center. The youth, alumni of the U.S. State Department sponsored programs together with their friends, will hold a meeting to protect stray dogs in Ukraine as well as render other assistance to them.

Moreover, by raising the flags Czechs will express their support for Ukrainian people.

Pray for Ukraine with the Rest of the World

On May 24 at noon (EET) Ukraine and everybody who supports the country and its people in the current crisis will hold a Global Prayer for Ukraine, Peace and Tranquility. The prayer will take place in four symbolic churches in Ukraine, yet, anyone can join in from a local church or even from home. Moreover, live stream of the prayer will be available on; it will also be broadcasted by the First National and First Ukraine (in English) TV channels.
