French philosopher Vincent Descombes will hold a talk at the Kyiv bookshop Ye on January 9th, 2013. The topic of the meeting will be The Social Responsibility of Intellectuals. The talk will be held in French with simultaneous interpretation.

Polish producer and film director Krzysztof Zanussi, 73, will present the Ukrainian translation of his book Time to Die. For the Ukrainian edition Zanussi wrote a chapter on Ukraine – he described his opinion on the Eastern European country, its history and culture.

The government of Ukraine backed Ukraine’s delegation to the world’s largest food, agriculture, and horticulture fair InternationalGreen Week Berlin. The event will take place in the German capital on January 18-27, 2013. Ukraine will present its advanced agricultural potential, centering on the goods the Eastern European country is ready to export to the international markets.

Athletes from 14 countries will compete in the FIS Freestyle World Cup, which will take place in Ukraine on February 18-24, 2013. For three years in a row now Ukraine has been successfully hosting the legs of European Freestyle Cup, remind the organizers of the event. They consider the World Cup to be a small step toward Ukraine hosting Winter Olympics in 2022.
