Ukraine, US Jointly Pursue Missile DestructionToday Ukraine has opened the rocket engine airframes disposal facility in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. Its operation allows for environmentally friendly disposal of the RS-22 (SS-24) missile components and contributes to international security. UK Believes Ukraine Belongs to the EU“The UK continues to believe strongly that Ukraine belongs to the European family of states,” reads the joint press statement following Foreign Secretary William Hague’s meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara. Ukraine Has a Good Chance to Sign AA - Hungary Foreign Minister“We think Ukraine has done a lot to meet the conditions voiced by the EU at the end of 2012,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary János Martonyi at the VI Forum Europe - Ukraine in Budapest, reports lb.ua. The minister expressed hope that the Association Agreement (AA) between Ukraine and the EU would be signed and the countries still in doubt would eventually vote in favor of the AA.

Gallup: Half of Ukrainian Population Considers Domestic Media Free50 percent of the polled Ukrainians answered “yes” to the question “Do the media in this country have a lot of freedom, or not?”, according to the poll results of the well-known American consulting company Gallup. 33 percent of approximately 1,000 respondents answered “no” to the question, with additional 18 percent choosing the “don’t know/refuse to answer” option. Gallup compared their findings with the press freedom assessment by the Freedom House, where Ukraine was rated as partly free.

Ukraine Joins UN Protocol Against Illicit FirearmsUkrainian parliament voted in favor of the law regulating the country’s joining to the UN Protocol against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Their Parts and Components and Ammunition, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. The document aims to create a complex international system of firearms trafficking control and promote cooperation between the participating parties. The respective decision has been voted in by 386 (of 415 present) MPs on April 2, 2013.
