Ukraine Vogues It Up
Kyiv, June 11, 2012. Vogue magazine will be launched in print and digital within the next 12 months in Ukraine. The fashion magazine will be published in Ukraine as part of the licensed relationship between UMH Eastern European multimedia company and About Condé Nast Publications (division of Advance Publications).
Vogue Ukraine will become the twentieth edition of the magazine worldwide. As of today Vogue is published in Australia, Brazil, Britain, China, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico & Latin America, The Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, and United States.
“Ukraine is ready for Vogue. Kyiv is booming, and there is a strong market demand for luxury products and the experience Vogue can offer the reader,” said Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive of Condé Nast International. Condé Nast currently operates in 25 countries, publishing 126 magazines, 98 Web sites and over 70 tablet and Smartphone apps under such brands as Vogue, GQ, Glamour, Wired, Condé Nast Traveller, and Vanity Fair. Recent launches include Vogue in Turkey, Condé Nast Traveller in India and Russia, GQ in Brazil, and AD in China.
Carol Cornuau, President of Condé Nast New Markets, added that the company looks forward to working together with UMH group and their arrival in Ukraine as partners launch Vogue, the preeminent fashion title.
“Partnership with Condé Nast… will take the media business in Ukraine to a new level, while the launch of Vogue has great significance for the entire luxury market,” said Boris Lozhkin, President of UMH group. UMH is a multimedia company in Eastern Europe that controls over 50 media brands. The group’s target audience is an adult Russian-speaking population of CIS, approximately 155 million people, reads the Web site of the company. The company has over 4,400 employees working across its 43 offices in Russia and Ukraine.
Notably, Ukrainian supermodel Snejana Onopka has since been on the cover of the Italian Vogue twice. In June 2012 Onopka was on the cover of Vogue Portugal. Ukrainian-born actress, supermodel, fashion designer, singer and public figure Milla Jovovich also covered Vogue as well as numerous other magazines.
