Kyiv’s Sakura Alley Is Longest in UkraineKyiv, April 27, 2012. The Kyoto park in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv boasts the longest in the country alley of sakura trees (Japanese cherry trees). The alley is 1.8 kilometers long (approximately 1.12 miles). The official representatives of the Ukraine Records will register this world record on April 28, 2012.

Japan, Ukraine to Perfect Post Nuclear Accident ResponseKyiv, April 18, 2012. Japan and Ukraine will join their efforts in liquidation of the consequences of nuclear disasters. The respective Resolution on Deepening the Relations with Ukraine has been unanimously approved by the House of Representatives of the National Diet of Japan (the bicameral legislative body of the country).

Japanese Ikebana Blooms in Kyiv 
Kyiv, March 2, 2012. The exhibition of Japanese flower arrangement style – ikebana – opened in Kyiv at the Ukrainian Center of Culture and Art on March 1, 2012. The exhibition celebrated the traditional Japanese doll festival Hinamatsuri and the 550th anniversary since inception of the Ikenobō School, where students are taught how to create ikebana. In addition, the year of 2012 marks 20 years of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Japan. The collection of flowers and dolls, made by students of both Kyiv and Kyoto, represents the cooperation and camaraderie between the twin-cities.
