European Parliament Supports Integration of Ukrainian and European Economies

Kyiv, November 15, 2011. Both parties of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement could benefit from integration of Ukrainian economy into the European one, according to the MEP Pavel Zalevsky. On November 14 the European Parliament adopted recommendations for the European Commission and the Council of the EU on the deep and comprehensive free trade zone part of the Association Agreement with Ukraine, according to Interfax Ukraine.

EU-Ukraine Association Agreement: Free Trade Zone Negotiations Finalized

Kyiv, October 20, 2011. Ukraine and the European Union finalized negotiations on free trade zone agreement today in Brussels. The parties agreed upon all the key parameters of the trade related part of the Association Agreement, according to Karel De Gucht, European Commissioner for Trade.

EU Raises Duty-Free Quota for Ukrainian Agricultural Goods

Kyiv, September 26, 2011. Ukraine has obtained the right to import a significantly increased amount of agricultural products to the EU duty-free. This was the result of the 18th round of the negotiations with the European Union over the creation of the free trade area between the two territories. The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhnyuk stated that the agricultural part of the upcoming Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Ukraine had been mostly finalized.

The Council of Europe Promises Assistance in Ukrainian Reforms

Kyiv, June 21, 2011. The President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Thorbjørn Jagland promised assistance with Ukrainian reforms. Such statement was released during the visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to Strasbourg on June 21, 2011. In the course of the visit the Ukrainian leader met with the President of the PACE Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, addressed the deputies of the PACE, and had a separate meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of EuropeThorbjørn Jagland.

The European Commission is Contented with Free Trade Zone Progress with Ukraine

Kyiv, May 17, 2011. “We are not just discussing the possibility to make a serious step forward and sign an association agreement, create a free trade zone — we are actively working on it”, said ŠtefanFüle, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy summing up the meeting with Vasyl Dzharty, Prime Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine.
