Ukrainian Parliament Votes For EU Integration

Kyiv, February 23, 2013. Majority of Ukrainian MPs adopted a declaration of Ukraine’s European aspirations and signing of the Association Agreement (AA) between Ukraine and the European Union. The declaration is an integral part of the upcoming EU-Ukraine summit, which is to take place on February 25, in Brussels.

European Parliament: Ukraine’s Elections - the Best in Post-Soviet Bloc

Kyiv, November 7, 2012. The parliamentary elections in Ukraine of October 28, 2012, were better than the ones in other post-Soviet countries the European Parliament (EP) has observed. This was stated by the head of the European Parliament Observer Mission in Ukraine MEP Pawel Kowal at the EP Committee on Foreign Affairs meeting. This year’s elections in Ukraine, however, were worse than the 2010 presidential vote, pointed out Kowal.

European Parliament Supports Integration of Ukrainian and European Economies

Kyiv, November 15, 2011. Both parties of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement could benefit from integration of Ukrainian economy into the European one, according to the MEP Pavel Zalevsky. On November 14 the European Parliament adopted recommendations for the European Commission and the Council of the EU on the deep and comprehensive free trade zone part of the Association Agreement with Ukraine, according to Interfax Ukraine.

Ukraine Insists on Solidifying its European Integration Perspective in the Association Agreement with the EU

Kyiv, July 20, 2011. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko said that Association Agreement with the European Union is a priority for Ukraine and that the country would insist upon solidifying its European perspective regardless of the skepticism of some EU member states. Such statement was released during an informal meeting of the Group of Friends of Ukraine before the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council meeting on July 18 in Brussels.

European Parliament Adopts a Resolution on the Political Situation in Ukraine

Kyiv, 26 November 2010. As a result of a long debate, European Parliament voted on a resolution on Ukraine during Strasbourg plenary session. The European Parliament stresses that Ukraine has European prospects and strong historical, cultural and economic links to the European Union. At the same time, the European Parliament expressed concern over some problematic issues so that the whole document looks balanced and unbiased.
