The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul presented a logo of petrykivskyi painting style – an original folk style developed at the end of 19th – beginning of 20th century in eastern Ukraine. In December 2013, Ukraine will present the tole painting technique Petrykivskyi Rozpys to the UNESCO commission, as the country aims to have the technique added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

Georgian artist Avtandil Gurgenidze for the first time presented his art project “Art Avia” at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ukraine. The exhibition contains over one hundred thirty paintings, each made on the surface of airsickness bags, usually available on board commercial airlines.

Thousands of people gathered along the banks of the Dnipro River to celebrate Epiphany. Priests from the local churches baptized the water and a big cross-shape hole cut in the ice. The tradition says that celebrators must plunge themselves into the holy water three times in a row on the day of Epiphany – a challenge not everyone can endure.
