The Taras Shevchenko National University of Luhansk presented its very own geological museum that features a collection of unique ore, mineral, and rock samples. The museum exhibit features 10,000 samples, collected since 1950. One of the highlights of the display is an imprint of a large dragonfly that lived in the Carboniferous period (approx. 360 – 300 million years ago).

The organizers informed that kids sending their letters to Father Frost can be sure each and every one of them will be read and replied with a postcard and a present. The authors of 50 most appealing letters will be invited to visit the headquarters on January 14th, 2013.

Over December 11-12th, the snowfall in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv has set an absolute record since the first recorded meteorological observation in the city. Moist snow with surface crust accumulation reached 85 mm (3.5 in), beating the previous 1979 record of 60 mm (2.4 in), reports Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
