On May 10th the eastern Ukrainian region of Luhansk was accepted to the Assembly of European Regions (AER). Luhansk oblast joined six other Ukrainian regions as well as 270 European ones that constitute the Assembly. The Ukrainian region was granted the status of an observer.

Country officials open the renewed terminal at Donetsk international airport in Ukraine just in time for EURO 2012. The renewed airport boasts a seven-storey terminal capable of servicing up to 3,100 passengers per hour (compared to 700 prior to the reconstruction), reads the statement by Ukraine’s Infrastructure Ministry.

The nation’s capital presented its second City Tulip Exhibition at the hills of Spivoche Pole, a favorite attraction during the spring months of April and May. The flowering exhibition started April 21, transforming the Pechersk Landscape Park into a sea of multicolored slopes for all to enjoy. The Tulip Exhibition ran for three weeks, inviting the visitors and intrigued tulip-lovers to enjoy multiple activities and of course the tulips.

After such a long and tiring journey through Poland’s hosting cities, Warsaw, Gdansk, Poznan, Wroclaw, Lodz and Katowice, and the nearly 80,000 eyes that set gaze to it, and the 40,000 photos that were snapped of it, the 2012 Cup had finally made it’s way to the capital of Ukraine where the festivities were priceless.
